Window Cleaning Quote Calculator
Count the panes, pick inside or outside, and add screens and tracks. You get a price, hours and a quote for the customer.
How the numbers work
Each standard pane is priced at your rate. Inside and outside service multiplies the rate by 1.8 rather than 2, because the second side is quicker once you are set up at that window. Upper floor panes add your surcharge for ladder work. Small French panes are priced at about a third of a standard pane each.
The time line assumes 20 standard panes an hour per side, with upper panes taking 30 percent longer, plus about 3 minutes per screen and 5 minutes per track. If your hourly take looks low, raise the pane rate rather than adding hidden fees.
Counting panes
A double hung window has two panes, a slider has two, and a picture window is one large pane that you can count as two if it is over about 20 square feet. Walk the outside of the house once and count by elevation so nothing gets missed.
Questions
How much do window cleaners charge per pane?
Many residential window cleaners charge about $4 to $8 per pane for outside only and $8 to $15 per pane for inside and outside. French panes and second story glass cost more.
Should I price by window or by pane?
Pricing by pane, with a count of standard and small French panes, is more accurate and easier to defend than a flat per window price.
Do screens and tracks cost extra?
Usually yes. Common add ons are $2 to $5 per screen and $3 to $6 per track.
How many windows can one person clean in an hour?
A practiced cleaner using a pole or ladder averages 15 to 25 standard panes an hour outside only. Inside work is slower because of moving furniture and drop cloths.
